Silicon carbide (SiC) powder is a high-performance ceramic material known for its hardness (Mohs 9.1-9.4), high thermal conductivity, and resistance to acids and high temperatures (up to 2730°C).
Black SiC vs. Green SiC: Black SiC is slightly lower in hardness (Mohs 9.1) but more economical for general abrasives and grinding. Green SiC is harder (Mohs 9.4) and purer, recommended for precision grinding, lapping, and high-performance ceramic parts.
Typical applications: abrasives, sintered parts, metal matrix composites, refractory, and lapping.
Custom grades available: Purity 85% to 98%, particle sizes from mesh to nano (<0.05 micron). Contact us with your specification.
